The last part is about the happiness of the family because there was no beating mom anymore and angry faces in the home. Young Ju made the right decision at the right when she made a simple phone call to 911, if she didn’t call the police that time it would be much worst than that. He was abusive man, who made a habit for beating his wife and his children. But when he goes back to Korea the family became closer than ever before. Both Young Ju and Joon worked at different jobs Joon works cleaning at uncle’s Tim’s shop while Young Ju works at the ice cream section. Even though, the family bought a new house so they can call it finally home. The most astonishing part was when Young Ju’s mom shows her daughter her old memory pictures which she never showed before. I wonder why she kept all those years under the boxes and didn’t share her memories with her children, I thought that she was afraid her abusive husband. The family was peaceful than ever before and they live without hassle. There was good news in the family Young Ju, received scholarship and soon she would be going to college. Young Ju’ mom was a strong and incredible woman who always encouraged her children to finish their schools so they could find better jobs. She told her daughter “You come from a family of dreams” (page 150 Step from Heaven). Their father was a violent man and his family is better off without him and his children will soon be graduation from college.
