the second part of SFH ( Amelia)
Young’s first day of school is actually not as bad as she had predicted. Even though she is terrified by the giant looking teacher, she finally realizes that her teacher is nice and friendly. This particular event reflects me back to my first day of school in Indonesia. I had the same felling as young’s which is the feeling of fear to meet new people of my age, including the teacher in school. For me, the first day of school wasn’t a great one because I was trapped in the school’s restroom and encountered the most embarrassing day in my kindergarten life. Young’s mom always thinks that moving to the Unite States can improve her relationship with her husband but she was mistaken. Young’s dad slapped his wife in front of his daughter. I think this is a very inappropriate thing to do in front of a child. Young’s father is not being a good role model in the family. The birth of young’s brother makes the relationship of the family a lot better. Daddy seems so happy all the time and he doesn’t argue with mom anymore. Young feels a little jealous with the present of her new brother. Young lies on front of her classmates and teacher that her brother died. As years goes by, Young becomes more mature and understanding. She learns to love and care for her little brother. I experienced the same thing with Young. When my younger sister was born, I was feeling a little jealous because my parent’s attention has drifted away from me. Firstly, I couldn’t bear the feeling but I finally realize that my sister is a blessing for the family. Now, she is always there for me when I need her and she never gets bored listening to my complaints and stories. I really enjoy reading this book because it brings back the old memories of mine.
