Response for AnNa's novel (from Po-Kai)

____From page 7 to 27 in AnNa’s novel, “A Step from Heaven.” she writes about her memories before she came to Mi Gook. First, Young Ju shows that her first time experienced the wave in the beach, and makes her feel just like a bubble floating in her dream. Second, she adds that her father always not happy and fight with her mother when he come home, and she feels so sad about that. Third, AnNa describes how she prays for her father in the church. She prays to God and asks God to make her father happy. Fourth, she states that her family decided to move to Mi Gook because they can find good jobs and Young Ju can have good education. Also she illustrates how her friend, Ju Mi, react to her about they move to Mi Gook. Next, Young Ju says that her mother want to have a perm for her hair before they moves to Mi Gook. She didn’t like that because she didn’t know what curly hair is and believe that is ugly. Then, she describes that her family takes a big bus, airplane, to Mi Gook. However, she didn’t like to go to Mi Gook because her Halmoni not go with them, but her mother makes her believed that Mi Gook is heaven and she can find her Harabugi and Halmoni there later. Finally, AnNa shows that she felt upset because she cannot find her Halmoni and Harabugi at her Gomo’s big house, and she did not like the drink that looks black and dirty water.
____According to AnNa’s writing, I found that a nervous, anxious and worried feeling exists in her mind before she comes to Mi Gook. I can understand this kind of feelings because I have similar experiences. Before I come to the United States, I also feel anxious and nervous because I’ll be study and live in Mi Gook alone. I will leave from my parent, sibling, friends and even my dog. I cannot see them frequently. Also, I’ll speak a language which I am not familiar. I fear to communicate with people in English. In short, AnNa’s writing recalls my memories, and makes me to retrospect my feelings. After couple months live in the United States, I feel that I am quite adapting the lifestyle at here, but I still need to improve my English conversation skills. However, I still miss my parent, brothers and my mother’s cuisines.
