Daisy's response to Lisa's
I agree with Lisa’s statement that America have the best education compare to other countries, especially for their college education. Majority of the top rand colleges around the world are in the U.S. Tons of international student all over the world come to United States to pursue the best education. Students from China, India, Korean, Germany, France, U.K, Canada, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia that thirsty for knowledge come to U.S. Top ten university like Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Caltech, Duke, Berkeley, UCLA, OSU, NYU, Cornell, Purdue are some of the top rank colleges that made it into the top rank school around the world. It is true also, based on my experience, the education in United States teaches their student to be very competitive and expose to different cultures. The classroom scene is not dull, but it is more interactive scene where students and their professor can interact with one another. To think critically in a class discussion is a must if student want to broaden their knowledge. Moreover, to come to America and to live here does not mean that you have to be an American and to look like an American. Truthfully, it is hard especially for foreign student to adjust with American culture when their own culture is so different to start with. For some Asian student, to color their hair into blond and red is really an act that they are part this assimilate movement towards American culture. It is totally acceptable with me. To some extend, I saw the tendency of some foreigners or students to see the American way is the right the right way to live without reflecting to one’s value. That’s totally wrong! Adjusting to environment does not mean to change one’s culture and values, but adjusting to environment is an act where one’s find a balance between their culture and values to their current environment they live in.
