The last repsonse to SFH by Anthony

After reading the whole novel, I can understand that how hard and difficult when a young girl immigrant to new place which there has different speaking language and culture. As for Young Ju, when she told that she whole family will move to America which Young Ju believes it’s a place like heaven where she can meet her grandfather. However, when she arrived in America, everything she dreamed is totally different. She realizes that American is not a heaven and she could not meet her grandfather. Moreover, she feels sad in learning other language and adapting new cultures in a n unfamiliar environment. In my case, I also feel tough when I just arrived in America. Everything in American is totally different with my hometown, Macau, such as food, culture. But luckily, I adapted these changes from time to time. Furthermore, the author believes that a fair and equal situation among male and female is important for the family. In my opinion, these values are usual and typical in Asian countries. In my hometown, boys are more valuable than girls. In general, grandparents will treat their grandson better than granddaughter. And the father want to have sons more than daughters as son can carry on the bloodline of the families. Therefore, after the couple get married, they will try their best to have a son.
